Marketplace Tech
Producer

Stephanie Hughes is the producer of Marketplace Tech, which examines the growing digital economy and looks at how technology is changing the work we do every day. She also works on the Codebreaker podcast.

Before joining Marketplace, Stephanie worked as a producer for Bloomberg Radio, where she produced interviews with guests ranging from energy mogul T. Boone Pickens to mobile game executive Niccolo de Masi. Previously, she worked for WYPR, the NPR affiliate in Baltimore, where she was one of the producers of the year-long, multi-platform series “The Lines Between Us.” It won a 2014 duPont-Columbia Award for its focus on race, poverty, and inequality in the Baltimore region. Her reporting has covered the digital hijacking of brands, the language used by state laws to describe rape, and Baltimore’s thousands of abandoned homes. She’s also interested in using crowd-sourcing to create online projects.

A native of southern Delaware, Stephanie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in communications, studying at the Annenberg School. Before she found her way to radio, she worked in the children’s division of the publishing house Farrar, Straus, and Giroux.
