Ryan Johnson, a South Carolina native, completed his undergraduate studies at Lander University, earning a bachelor’s degree in history finishing Magna Cum Laude. Thereafter, Ryan moved to the Charleston region in 2006 and into the City of North Charleston in 2010. Ryan has worked on the staff of North Charleston Mayor R. Keith Summey since 2006 and today serves as the City’s Public Relations and Deputy Economic Development Coordinator.
Ryan provides guidance to businesses as to how to work best within the confines of the city’s regulations and requirements. Often times, startups or businesses new to the region have one goal in mind, which is to get their product or service to market in the speediest and most efficient fashion. Working directly with a business, Ryan ensures they are well educated on the intricacies and processes needed to accomplish that goal, and lends a hand directly whenever possible.
In addition to Ryan’s economic development role, he is responsible for the public and media relations for the City of North Charleston. He has played a pivotal role in reshaping the image of the City from merely industrial to a sustainable, forward thinking community, which is ripe for business. With the majority of the region’s available space for large-scale commercial and industrial projects, it has been important to reassure companies that they will be locating in a world-class city.
Ryan’s passions include, his family, dog, friends, the City of North Charleston, anything with a Frisbee involved, and craft brewing industry.
